Buffalo brings AOSS to Android

Your IT - Mobility

A new app for Android devices simplifies making secure Wi-Fi connections to Buffalo AirStation wireless routers.

AOSS for Android is a free app from Buffalo that uses the company's AirStation One-Touch Secure System (AOSS) to automatically configure the most secure connection possible between the device and an AirStation router.

AOSS is Buffalo's proprietary approach to the same problem that is addressed by the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) standard. It replaces manual configuration with 'one touch' setup.

"In the past, only the very tech-savvy used our AirStation wireless router and access points," said Akihito Kondo, group manager, Southeast Asia and Oceania group, Asia-Pacific sales at Buffalo.

"However, with the increasing adoption of smartphones by mainstream customers, we recognised that more user-friendly applications will be increasingly sought after. That is why Buffalo's AOSS enables easy configuration of the Wi-Fi connection between the Buffalo AirStation wireless router and an Android device."

The app is compatible with Android 2.1 and 2.2, and is available free of charge here.
