iPhone nano rumours return

Your IT - Mobility

Some rumours won't go away. A smaller, cheaper iPhone - the so called 'iPhone nano' - is now being tipped for a mid-2011 debut.

Speculation that Apple would launch an iPhone nano started as early as mid 2007. It didn't happen, although the associated rumours about what we know know to be the iPod touch did prove largely correct.

The rumours returned a year later, with a prediction that the iPhone nano would arrive for Christmas 2008. Wrong again, even though one manufacturer flagged the introduction of cases for the mythical device.

Then in early 2009 we saw predictions of a 'cost reduced' version of the iPhone. That didn't happen either.

Now Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal have resurrected the rumour of an iPhone nano.

According to the WSJ, a source has seen a prototype of a new iPhone that is about half the size of the iPhone 4 and is intended as an additional model in the iPhone lineup.
