Go ogle a 3D YouTube with LG's Optimus 3D - in Q2 '11

Your IT - Mobility

Due 'early in the second quarter of 2011', LG's glasses-free Optimus 3D Android OS-powered smartphone will bring user-generated 3D videos to YouTube in a special deal between LG and Google.

Watch out, Nintendo 3DS - Android's going 3D through LG's upcoming Optimus 3D smartphone, although being able to capture and view 3D videos without glasses, and to upload them to YouTube seems to be the main focus first, although 3D gaming experiences are, without doubt, also on the way.

LG has partnered with Google's YouTube to ensure there's an easy way for LG Optimus 3D users to share the 3D videos they've taken with others, although unless you have a 3D screen on your computer or device, or an Optimus 3D, it's hard to see how others will be able to enjoy the 3D videos you've created.

That said, 3D is the future that the market is pushing towards, and both LG and YouTube clearly want to be as far ahead of the pack as possible in making 3D everywhere a reality, with other smartphone makers undoubtedly ogling the tri-dimensional 3D possibilities with as much of a third eye as they can muster.

Promising to 'bring the full 3D experience to mobile devices' and a 'new era of true 3D mobile experiences', LG and YouTube are certainly hoping you'll go ogle their 'major step forward', which is the announced partnership to 'provide a unique 3D mobile experience to users', where LG's 3D Android not only lets users 'capture and view 3D videos without glasses, but also to upload and share them instantly with others via YouTube.'

Dr. Jong-seok Park, the President and CEO of LG's Electronics Mobile Communications Company said: 'The Optimus 3D is LG's newest flagship smartphone. It is our answer to two major pain points of the current 3D experience - limited mobility and specialized glasses.  Furthermore, our partnership with YouTube will ensure that our customers can easily generate and access ample 3D content'.

As noted, the move reflects a 'broader push into 3D entertainment by LG and the world's largest online video community', with both companies collaborating to 'enable the delivery and sharing of 3D video onto mobile devices in a way that makes it simple and easy for consumers.'

Although given the LG Optimus 3D is, as claimed, 'unique', it'll only be simple, at first, if you have an LG Optimus 3D or a screen capable of displaying 3D, whether it needs glasses for you to view that 3D - or not.
