The PlayStation Phone to launch in March

Your IT - Mobility

No it is not the NGP (Next Generation Portable), nor the PSP 2, it actually isn't even the PlayStation Phone, but it will be a phone from Sony, capable of running PlayStation games without having your fingers get in the way.  It is the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY, and it will be available in March.

Sony is getting its act together as far as getting all the limbs of the mighty tech body working in sync.

Recently it has been standing up to Apple in a bid to get traction in the music streaming business, and has also fired broadsides at both Apple and Nintendo with announcements like the NGP and PlayStation Suite.

How successful it will be will depend on momentum and product.  Well, the much rumoured PlayStation Phone has now emerged, in the form of the Xperia PLAY from Sony Ericsson.

Released worldwide in March, the Xperia PLAY will be sporting a PlayStation brand and feature a slide-out game pad with two analogue touch pads , shoulder pads, a digital D pad and the traditional 'PlayStation' buttons X, Square, Triangle and Circle.  The PLAY will also have a 4' multitouch screen and 5-megapixel camera.

According to Aaron Duke, Sony's product manager; 'You keep your hands on controls rather than all over the screen.'

Running on a 1Ghz Snapdragon processer with embedded Adreno GPU to pump out 60 frames per second, and Sony has promised plenty of gaming titles to take advantage of this processing power.
