Lonely Planet gives away iPhone travel guides

Your IT - Mobility

Stranded in Europe due to the freezing weather? Lonely Planet wants to help you find something to do with a free copy of its City Guides for iPhone. Android owners have to make do with a special price.

Lonely Planet is offering free copies of 13 of its European City Guides for the iPhone. The special deal lasts until 1pm on December 23 (AEST).

The free guides cover Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Dublin, London, Moscow, Munich, Paris, Prague, St Petersburg, Stockholm, Vienna, and Warsaw.

"We know that travellers who might be stuck in unfamiliar places over Christmas will need access to practical information as well as suggestions on what to do while they're stranded," said Shawn Low, Lonely Planet's Asia-Pacific Travel Editor. "That's why we're giving away our iPhone City Guides to many of the European destinations impacted by the snow chaos."

The company has also discounted its Compass Guides for Android from $US4.99 to $US0.99 until December 25.

Compass Guides are available for Amsterdam, Bangkok, Barcelona, Beijing, Boston, Chicago, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Las Vegas, London, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York City, Paris, Prague, Rome, San Francisco, Seattle, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, Vancouver, and Washington DC.

The iPhone guides are available from the App Store and the Compass Guides are offered via the Android Market.
