Construction needs cloud flexibility

Australia’s embattled construction sector could benefit from cloud based information systems that can be switched on and off in lockstep with individual projects – with the exception of those organisations based in remote areas like the Kimberleys.

'Proper' untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak due Dec 24?

Your IT - Mobility

An updated, more efficient and fully untethered version of the iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch is being reported as due by December 24, but with the deletion of a tweet suggesting this would happen, jailbreakers waiting for the latest and greatest jailhouse hack are stuck in anticipatory suspense!

When it comes to jailbreaking your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, this can sometimes be easy, and sometimes it's hard.

Jailbreakers sometimes want to downgrade to earlier iOS versions for various reasons, or they simply want to re-jailbreak a device with a better, more efficient jailbreak, simply because they can.

It's a challenge for many, for jailbreakers and the people that create the jailbreaks, and while the vast majority of iDevice owners couldn't give two hoots about the art of breaking out of jail, those that love it fully enmesh themselves in the cat and mouse game that is hacking Apple.

Depending on how you have jailbroken your existing version of iOS 4.2.1, you might yourself needing to 'tether' your iDevice to your computer with iTunes to get it going again every time you reboot.

Thus the need for a true 'untethered' solution that poses no risk of pesky tethering, something that is most unhelpful if you need to reset your iDevice when out and about and aren't anywhere near your iTunes-loaded computer.

The most recent jailbreak news comes from the iPhone Dev Team, with Redmond Pie noting a tweet from renowned Dev Team member 'MuscleNerd', where he stated in a now deleted tweet that answers a question from 'scotty6kids78' who asks '@MuscleNerd are we any closer to the unteathered #jailbreak for the new #ios4.2 on #iphone4 ?'

'MuscleNerd' replies: '@scotty6kids78 it'll be here by Xmas (not because we're sitting waiting for Xmas, but because it's achievable deadline)'.

Unfortunately, as noted, this tweet has gone to the great flock of deleted tweets in the sky, leading some to wonder what happened, and whether the fully untethered new jailbreak will find its way into jailbreakers' hands before Christmas, by the end of the year, or instead, sometime in 2011.

Of course, if it's a true 'cat and mouse' game that you want to play with your iPad, your cat and a digital mouse, then stop wasting your time worrying about jailbreaking, and start "feline" fine by checking this baby out instead.
