Galaxy Tab goes on NextG

Your IT - Mobility

Telstra is planning to exploit the market's fascination with tablet computers. They're now adding the Samsung GALAXY Tab - a 7-inch mobile tablet running Android 2.2 to their T-Touch Tab in an expanded tablet range.

With its 7-inch screen the Samsung GALAXY Tab is smaller and lighter than the iPad. It weighs only 390 grams and is small enough for one-handed use. Telstra are boasting its abilities as a media consumption device.

The GALAXY Tab will come pre-loaded apps like Kobo for reading eBooks and PressDisplay for reading newspapers. Customers also get a free two-month trial to The Australian newspaper's Android app. Video playback is a full HD1080p so you can watch movies on the go and there's 16GB of storage so you can take your media with you. You can access Outlook and Gmail email accounts.

One of the great features Telstra's pushing with the Galaxy Tab is that it can be used as a  mobile Wi-Fi hotspot that can connect up to 5 gadgets up to the internet when you're out and around. When surfing, the full gamut of web content is available as there's Adobe Flash 10.1 support.

Telstra will be offering the Samsung GALAXY Tab for purchase on three 24-month Telstra Data+ Cap Plans, including for $0 upfront on the $49 Telstra Data+ Cap Plan with a monthly repayment option of $25, after using your MRO Bonus, for 24 months (minimum total cost is $1776) with 7GB of data to use in Australia and $10 standard national calls and SMS to any Australian network.
