White iPhone 4 manufacturing problem leaked?

Apple keeps telling us that the release of the white iPhone 4 is being delayed due to manufacturing 'challenges'. There's now a report of just what the challenge might be.

According to an unnamed source cited by The Street, the problem Apple faces is keeping the screen backlighting from leaking out through the white glass.

While that wouldn't present functional problems, if any phone company was concerned with aesthetic issues, it's likely to be Apple.

The Street said its source was "a person familiar with the manufacturing process", and suggested the use of glass for the iPhone 4's panels ruled out a simple coating to block the light.
