Vodafone and 3 treats Sydney iPhone 4 buyers to a night out

Your IT - Mobility

Vodafone and 3 are holding a private party for buyers ahead of tonight's midnight launch of the iPhone 4. But if you're not in Sydney, tough luck.

Would-be iPhone 4 buyers at the front of the queue at the 3 and Vodafone Store at 285 George Street Sydney will be treated to a private party tonight.

An unspecified number of people (presumably equal to the number of iPhone 4s in stock) will be able to register to purchase an iPhone 4 from 10pm before moving to a private party at the Ivy. They will then be escorted back to the store from midnight to complete their purchases.

The party will continue to 3am. Guests will receive two alcoholic drink vouchers, and there will be complementary non-alcoholic drinks, along with food and entertainment. There will be prizes too.

"When our valued Vodafone and 3 customers come out on a cold, wet night to buy this highly anticipated device, we don't want them freezing, waiting in a queue," said VHA director of marketing John Casey.

Presumably Vodafone customers outside Sydney just aren't valued. There's no indication from VHA that any of its other shops will be open tonight, let alone hosting a party.

"If they have to wait, we want to look after them in style. At the end of an awesome night, they will walk away with their newly purchased iPhone 4!" added Casey.
