CIO confidence; a dead cat bounce?

iPhone app watches over Melbourne taxi passengers

Your IT - Mobility

The latest version of the 13CABS iphone application includes the 'TaxiTracker' feature to log which cab picked you up in case problems arise.

13CABS allows iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users to book taxis in Melbourne, check the status of a booking, estimate the cost of a trip, and more.

The latest addition is TaxiTracker, which allows users to take a photo of the cab number and send it to 13CABS server.

This makes it easier to retrieve items accidentally left in taxis (around a quarter of phones that are lost go missing in a taxi), and it also provides passengers with additional reassurance that they will be safe, especially when travelling alone and at night.

"Passengers are matched with cabs, images geo-tagged and everyone's on notice. We can all relax and enjoy cab rides with a renewed sense of confidence and security," said 13CABS chief operating officer Andrew Skelton.

13CABS (aka Black Cabs) operates more than 1800 vehicles around Melbourne.
