Optus's Android Milestone

Your IT - Mobility

The Android-based Motorola Milestone will be available in Australia next week, exclusively on Optus.

The Motorola Milestone smartphone is a QWERTY slider design with a 3.7in widescreen multitouch display. Motorola claims the Milestone is one of the thinnest devices of its type (13.7mm).

Apple's new iPhone 4 is 9.3mm thick, but lacks a physical keyboard.

Other hardware features of the Milestone include a Cortex A8 processor, 5MP camera with dual LED flash, stereo Bluetooth 2.1, and an 8GB memory card.

Various Google applications (including Maps, Gmail and YouTube) are provided, plus the Motonav turn-by-turn navigation program and more. An optional driver's pack includes a car mount and charger, and the GPS navigation application is launched when the device is placed in the mount.

Additional apps are available from the Android Market.

Running Android 2.1, the Milestone will be available for $0 upfront on Optus's $49 business and personal 24 month contract plans.
