NewBay powers Telstra's Tribe

Dublin based NewBay has revealed itself as the company whose technology supports Telstra's recently launched mobile social networking service, Tribe, that provides Telstra mobile customers with unmetered access to popular social networking sites Facebook, Twitter and MySpace

According to Ross Fielding, executive director, Telstra Mobility Products. "Tribe allows customers to manage their social profile from a single, easy-to-use portal that can be accessed from a range of Next G mobiles – not just smartphones.

Customers can access comments, view pictures, post updates and upload photos via a neat and secure mobile portal. They can even update their status to multiple sites simultaneously."

According to NewBay, its LifeCache Social Networking Gateway "provides a single interface and integration point for the operator to quickly and easily connect to the various social networks on the Tribe deck [and] manages the technical and business relationship with each online community. "

NewBay claims to have 80 million registered users on LifeCache with mobile operators around the world, including T-Mobile, Telefónica O2, Orange, US Cellular, AT&T, Telstra, Alltel Wireless, and LG Electronics.
