A 3G broadband router with HSPA+ and 802.11n support is about to hit the Australian market.

The AXIMCom MR-102N 3G broadband router is said to be the first of its kind to support 802.11n networking.

Distributed by PCRange, the battery powered MR-102N boasts compatibility with a wide range of 3G modems, automatically detecting and configuring the modem when it is connected. A company spokesperson said it works with the Telstra, Optus, Virgin and 3 3G networks in Australia.

With the right modem, the router will operate at up to 42Mbps.

"The AXIMCom MR-102N is ideal for travellers, renters and anyone using wireless broadband as a replacement for a fixed line ADSL service. By simply connecting a 3G modem to the unit, you can create mobile broadband access anytime anywhere for a group of users and devices to share," said PCRange general manager Stewart Goodier.

The AXIMCom MR-102N will cost $A199.
