Samsung cellphone to ship with Yahoo! apps

Your IT - Mobility

Samsung cellphones worldwide, including those running Android and Samsungs' own Bada platform, will ship preloaded with a range of Yahoo! applications under a global partnership between the two companies.

These applications could include Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Messenger, Yahoo! Front Page, Yahoo! Search, Yahoo! Flickr, Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Finance, Yahoo! Contacts, Yahoo! Calendar, and Yahoo! Weather. Distribution will start from May 2010.  However the two companies are being rather vague on how exactly the arrangement will work, saying only that "Samsung phones may come pre-loaded with one or more Yahoo! branded services," from this list.

'We want to provide our customers with the best possible services designed to enhance their mobile experience,' said Kenny Lee, vice president of content planning at Samsung. 'Our relationship with Yahoo! continues to grow and benefit our global consumer base, who wants access popular Yahoo! services from their Samsung phone.'
