Bento expands to cover iPad

Apple subsidiary FileMaker has welcomed the iPad's arrival with a version of Bento for the new tablet plus a corresponding update for the Mac version of the personal database software.

The iPad version of the Bento personal database app (previously available for the iPhone and iPod touch) has been designed to take full advantage of the iPad's larger screen.

For example, a split-screen landscape view shows a list as well as the details of the selected records, and the app uses fonts designed specifically for the iPad and supports iPad gestures.

Alongside Bento for iPad, FileMaker released an update to Bento for Mac.

Bento 3.0.4 for Mac delivers compatibility with the iPad version, and allows synchronisation with one iPad plus either one iPhone or one iPod touch.

That's slightly more generous than just one device, but still seems stingy. A user might work in an environment where mobile phones are forbidden but iPods are permissible, but carry an iPhone out of hours and use an iPad at home.
