A hacksaw to jailbreak an iPhone

Your IT - Mobility

If your jail broken iPhone is stuck in recovery mode or you really do want to jailbreak a new iPhone, here is the device for you.

For what appears to be the first time, a hardware solution is under development to manage the jail breaking or recovery of partially jail broken iPhones.

Called the iDongle this device will (according to the creator) recover a jail broken iPhone stuck in recovery mode.  It is designed to work with iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 2G & 3G all running OS 3.1, 3.1.1 or 3.1.2.  Alternately, it will jailbreak a brand-new device.

The latest update on the website also points out that the device does not currently work on OS v3.1.3.  However, the on-board firmware can be updated via the USB port should changes be made to the iPhone OS - hopefully this will include support for the later OS.

The device includes a standard 9V battery as there is no power available to the data port during the boot mode of the iPhone.  Currently in final development, the device is expected to sell for around €30.

Visit the website for a video on the operation of the device and further details on its design and availability.
