Storm2 warning: next-gen BlackBerry arriving shortly

Your IT - Mobility

The BlackBerry Storm2 smartphone will go on sale in Australia sometime in the next several days.

The headline feature of RIM's second-generation Storm is the improved SurePress technology that provides tactile feedback when using the touchscreen.

It also allows the user to type a letter with one thumb while still pressing another virtual key. This key rollover makes it possible to type more quickly, and allows the use of key modifiers such as Shift and Alt.

"The BlackBerry Storm2 smartphone, with its next generation SurePress technology and large, brilliant display, gives users a unique and powerful touch-screen experience,” said Adele Beachley, Research In Motion's managing director for Australia and New Zealand.

"In addition to enjoying the many advanced communications and multimedia capabilities of the new BlackBerry Storm2 smartphone, users can also choose from a broad range of free mobile applications following the recent introduction of BlackBerry App World in Australia," she added.

The Storm2 runs BlackBerry OS 5 and features a 3.25in, 360 x 480 pixel touch screen.
