Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
It’s also worth noting that iPhone software developers are prohibited from developing apps on iPhone 2.1 and then sending them to the App Store, although iPhone apps can clearly be developed and tested on iPhone OS 2.1 equipped units.
Although a ‘feature list’ is natural for any company to have for its new products, we can only implore that Apple please include some or all of the following feature requests:
Allow notes to by synchronised, for a system-wide search to be implemented, for multitasking to be implement, proper Bluetooth, a Safari that crashes less on sites it doesn’t like, and for Safari NOT to re-load a page just because you’ve navigated back to its window when viewing other tabs you have open.
We’d also like Apple to allow a ‘double tap’ of the home key (if your home key is set to go back to home instead of Favourites or iPod controls) to take us back to the first page of the icons, so if you have several pages of icons for new iPhone Apps you don’t have to swipe (or tap the page dots) several times to get back to the real home screen.
Alternatively, why not implement a triple tap to do that, unless Apple thinks that is simply too complicated.
In addition, it would be very nice if Apple gave the calendaring app a major upgrade, allow users to insert their own custom alarm and message received alerts, allow users to send photos and video clips as MMS messages, allow users to record video, and give the camera some improved functions like a basic digital zoom if nothing else.
Some kind of folder system for the home screen could be handy too, so you can easily categorise the apps you have on the system, or categorise bookmarks and anything else.
Working with more telcos to get visual voicemail in all markets would be handy too.
Sadly, my expectation is that Apple will fix none of these issues, or perhaps only one or two at best.
iPhone owners might have to wait until iPhone OS 2.2 to see some more of these heavily requested features come to light!
