Apple iPhone users can go hang, as iTunes Store does likewise

Fast forward to now. 3pm here in the UK, and I try again. This time I don't get the temporarily unavailable message, but instead I am gleefully informed that "Your iPod software is up to date. iTunes will automatically check for an update again on 18/07/2008."

The up to date software is, according to my iTouch and iTunes, 1.1.4 (with Software Upgrade) and not 2.0

So, there we have it. Although I can go and look at all the pretty new apps sitting there tempting me at the iTunes App Store, I cannot download and install any. Possibly not until the 18th of July if I am to believe iTunes.

Certainly not until the demand on the servers eases up and Apple are able to provide a normal service. You know, the one they should have been providing from the get go. That is if I can be bothered after all this, I might just go an Jailbreak my iTouch out of spite...

Apple did not respond to my requests for a comment on the situation...
