Australian Vodafone iPhone pricing accidentally revealed!

Your IT - Mobility

Only Optus has officially released its full Australian iPhone pricing so far. Telstra has given some details of its iPhone call plans, but no details of the data.

Adding today's Vodafone information, here's what we know so far - with Vodafone's NZ prices thrown in for comparison (converted to AU). Prices are in red to make it easier to read (the ads are throwing out the formating, so please scroll down the page to see the pricing table below the ads) ;

ENTRY LEVEL PLANS:

Voda AU - 8GB/16GB   $189/$309  plus $69 p/m                             with 250MB data
Voda NZ - 8GB/16GB   $433/$511  plus $63 p/m                             with 250MB data
Optus     -                     $0 upfront  plus $40/$45 (8GB/16GB) p/m   with 100MB data
Optus     -                     $0 upfront  plus $56/$61 (8GB/16GB) p/m   with 250MB data
Telstra    - 8GB/16GB   $279/$399  plus $30 p/m                             with ? data

TOP PLANS:

Voda AU - 8GB/16GB   $0/$99        plus $169 p/m                                with 1GB data
Voda NZ - 8GB/16GB   $157/$275   plus $197 p/m                               with 1GB data
Optus     -                    $0 upfront   plus $149/$149 (8GB/16GB) p/m   with 1GB data
Optus     -                    $0 upfront   plus $179/$179 (8GB/16GB) p/m   with 1GB data
Telstra    - 8GB            $0 upfront   plus $80 p/m                                 with ? data
Telstra    -16GB           $0 upfront  plus $100 p/m                                 with ? data

These details are for 24 month plans, but Optus is also offering 12 month plans.

Vodafone offers an 8GB iPhone for $189 up front and then $69 per month for 250MB of data. Over at Optus, the 8GB iPhone is $0 up front and then $56 per month ($49 calls +$7 handset) for 250MB of data.

Of course this doesn't take into account the call and SMS allowances, which will further alter the value for money equation. Unlike NZ, Vodafone AU hasn't listed upfront pricing, which is also surprising.

Considering Optus' plans have been available for days, it's hard to believe Vodafone's plans aren't better. I expected Vodafone to seriously undercut Optus, which is why I suspect the offical Vodafone plans could be a little better.
