"iPhone clone" with inbuilt projector comes to life

Your IT - Mobility

Ever remember hearing that one day phones and computers would have a built-in projector that would project large images onto the wall, making the watching of video or even just using your phone like a computer? No? Yes? Well, it’s come true anyway.

Engadget has published images of a brick-like phone with very familiar iPhone icons that contains a built-in projector.

No kidding. Take a look at the link above for pics!

It’s actually the most uniPhone-clone I’ve ever seen, what with a real, physical keypad, a thickness that would make any true Apple fan shudder, but the piece de resistance is the inbuilt projector!

I guess the technology will eventually shrink until it looks like an LED light at the tip of your phone or other device, but in version 1.0, it screams “brick” like no Apple product from the last few years ever could.

The translated Chinese article with the same images is available here.

According to that article, the “world’s first projector phone” is being shown off at the 2008 Tianjin International Mobile Phone Industry Exhibition, being held now, June 12-14.

The article states the exhibition showcases “mobile communications industry trends”, 3G phones and the opportunity the Beijing Olympics provides for China with business development, with the exhibition themes being innovation, along with entertainment and fashion industry consolidation, strangely enough. Maybe it’s the translation.

Anyway the phone comes courtest of Shing Tai telecommunications and CKING, and it is claimed to be “the combination of building high-tech product can be completely portable as a small home, business projectors to use.”

Which is as a great an example of Chinglish as ever I’ve seen, but hey, it’s the translation software’s fault, and after all, we do get the picture.

The article states the phone has the projector in front, and has a style and appearance “similar to ordinary business phones”.
