Forbes says 3G iPhone talk time “terrible”

Forbes magazine has quoted an unnamed Quanta employee saying the ‘new iPhone’ is in one of their US buildings, and that it’s cool. But that's all he'd say, and no-one else would talk!

Oh, those scallywags at Forbes Magazine. Their latest article, “The New iPhone's Terrible Talk Time”, shows you the wonder of headlines, making you think that the 3G iPhone really does have a terrible battery inside.

Or perhaps the headline meant the new iPhone has the same battery as the 2G iPhone, but that Steve Jobs was right, after all – 3G really does suck up far too much battery life.

But no, Forbes didn’t say that.

Then the headline also made me wonder if the supposed ultra thin nature of the unconfirmed 3G iPhone meant that a new battery was indeed used... and gave fantastic life when in 2G mode, but was disappointing when switched to 3G mode.

But Forbes magazine didn’t say that either.

No, when I read the article, it turns out that Forbes hasn’t the slightest clue about the talk time – or lack of it – in the new 3G iPhone.

They were unable to uncover anything juicy new goss about the iPhone, no mention of features, no word on whether the new iPhone would be globally unlocked, no hint of App Store apps, nothing at all.

It practically felt like I was reading an iPhone-esque episode of Seinfeld, which was famously advertised in Australia as the show about 'nothing'. And as it happened, this iPhone story was making me thirsty!

So, I got a drink, and sat back to read, and knew I had to report on Forbes' amazing story, a story with which you too may be feeling a certain Seinfield-esque nothingness as you read this article.

Still, so keen is the world for any iPhone news at all, and so keen was I to see if Forbes knew of the 3G iPhone’s fate, and that of its talk time, that I couldn’t resist reading on.

Turns out the Forbes article was just a whole lot of talk... about talking, or the lack of it, funnily enough. So, what the heck DID Forbes talk about, seeing as the article was meant to be about the 3G iPhone’s “terrible talk time”?!
