After all, with an App Store bringing the potential of huge numbers of new programs for both the existing iPhone and the upcoming 3G iPhone, the iPhone will gain a plethora of new “features” whatever Apple releases themselves, or not.

It is an exciting time for Apple, and one that will define just how successful the iPhone will be in the post original iPhone era.

With competition from technologies such as the HTC Touch Diamond, which has an awesome touch screen interface called TouchFlo 3D that makes the original TouchFlo look incredibly basic, Apple will be under heavy pressure in the 2nd half of this year.

Yes, I’ve seen, thanks to a Microsoft Windows Mobile briefing, a sneak peek of the new Touch Diamond Interface, and while it is NOT a multi-touch interface, it looks to be the best single-touch interface yet, and is incredibly graphically impressive – on some levels far more impressive than the existing iPhone interface as we know it – save for the lack of multi-touch support.

So... oh iPhone... and Steve Jobs... June 9 will be the watershed moment for the iPhone in 2008. 5 more sleeps to go!
