At the same time, it generally hasn't been too hard to get hold of new products.

It now appears the pendulum may have swung too far the other way, with supplies of the old iPhone running out weeks before even optimists expect its replacement to ship.

Assuming Gizmodo's source is correct, the question is now whether or not Apple has accurately forecast the initial demand for the 3G iPhone and whether its suppliers can deliver.
