Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
In addition to making Google the default search provider for Sprint customers, new phones from the carrier will feature Google Maps for mobile, YouTube, and the use of location data for search and maps.
"Our partnership with Google is a great example of how Sprint is making the mobile Internet experience even more customer-friendly and useful to our customers," said Kevin Packingham, vice president of product management at Sprint.
Sprint has been offering Gmail from its portal since 2006, and the company is also a founding member of Google's Open Handset Alliance, the organisation behind the Android phone.
"Google and Sprint have a lot in common when it comes to our vision for the mobile web," said Doug Garland, vice president of product management at Google. "We both believe in openness and providing compelling, easy-to-use mobile services that consumers can use every day."
