Shock: new black 3G iPhone case - is just a 2G iPhone case!

Your IT - Mobility

Remember that 3G iPhone ‘black case’ that has made the rounds of the Internet? Turns out it’s just a third party case that you can pick up in Hong Kong. But while true 3G iPhone case still remains a Jobsian iSurprise... it could still be black.

WinandMac has uncovered the mystery behind the supposed 3G iPhone’s black case, showing that it’s actually a protective case that you can purchase in Hong Kong for the existing 2G iPhone.

We happily admit to being fooled, or at least, wanting to believe, that the 3G iPhone will have an all plastic black, because the arguments for it having one are still valid. And the jury is still very much out on whether or not the next iPhone will have a black plastic case, or not.

Why? Well, one need only read the Engadget report carefully, the report that has set off the very latest round of 3G iPhone rumours, to note that it says the 3G iPhone will have a black, plastic casing – at least, on the back.

That piece of information is said to be from the leaker upon whom Engadget relied for the story, so it’s up to you whether you believe in a black back casing, or not.

The picture that was used in the Engadget story, as I already knew (and did others), was an older picture from the last major 3G iPhone rumour a few weeks ago. It’s been seen all over the Internet – if you’re the slightest bit interested in the iPhone you’re very unlikely to have missed it.

Of course, the picture itself was old news, but the black case wasn’t the major part of the latest rumours, most of which I published yesterday in a story entitled ‘2nd-gen 3G iPhone – same same, but different?’.

Part of the new rumours say that actual working 3G iPhones are finally in the hands of super secret testers, who are giving the 3G iPhone – and it’s new features, including GPS and more – a workout.

So, what are those valid arguments for a black plastic case? Please read onto page 2.
