New price drops coming for iPhone and iPod Touch already?

Your IT - Mobility

In US dollars, 9to5Mac thinks the new prices will be as follows:

8GB iPod Touch at $199, and an 8GB iPhone at $299 – with both to be discontinued once stocks have depleted. The 16GB iPod Touch will retail for $299, the 16 iPhone for $399, and the 32GB iPod Touch for $399.

Now, it has to be said that 9to5Mac predicted Steve Jobs would announce 5 million iPhones sold at Macworld 2008, and that didn’t happen, but just because they got that one wrong doesn’t necessarily mean they’re wrong this time. Anyway, as with any and all rumours, we have to remember they are just that: unsubstantiated rumours.

Still, it seems unlikely that prices will come down so soon after having released a higher capacity iPhone and iPod Touch, despite Apple’s history in this regard.

Personally I want the 3G iPhone rumour to come true first. And if you wait long enough, rumours about price drops will inevitably come true!
