Apple is holding a media event in London next Tuesday. In the absence of any firm information, pundits are speculating that this will be the European launch of the iPhone.

Apple's choice of carriers has yet to be confirmed, but O2 CEO Peter Erskine has been talking up the idea of revenue-sharing deals like that between Apple and AT&T.

The Times quoted Erskine as saying "If sharing revenue brings a bigger pie to the table, then we’ll be happy to share that pie".

It has been suggested previously that O2 will get the gig in the UK, along with T-Mobile in Germany and Orange in France.

A September announcement would allow Apple and its chosen partners to take full advantage of the Christmas buying season.
