3's flat-rate X-Series mobile data plans become even more attractive with the addition of another three compatible handsets.
The newcomers to the lineup comprise the Palm Treo 750 ($A36/month on a $A29 plan, $1049 outright), the DoPod 838Pro ($A28/month on a $A69 plan, $A959 outright) and Motorola's V3xx ($A10/month on a $A29 plan, $A529 outright). All three are HSDPA capable.
The Treo and the DoPod are both Windows Mobile 5.0 smartphones with QWERTY keypads and touchscreens, while the V3xx is a compact flip phone that can be used to connect notebooks to the Internet.
3 officials say the availability of the Nokia N95 (with built-in GPS, 5 megapixel camera and Wi-Fi connectivity) and the polished metal LG Shine slider will be announced shortly.
X-Series offers 500M of data for $A20, 1G for $A30 and 2G for $A40 per month. Subscribers also get 1000, 2000 or 3000 minutes of Skype-to-Skype calls, plus unlimited use of IM, 3 email and certain other services. Surcharges apply when used outside 3's broadband zones, and regular voice and video calls are charged separately.
