In 2010 he received the 'Kester' lifetime achievement award in the Consensus IT Writers Awards and was made a Lifetime Member of the Telecommunications Society of Australia. He was born in the UK, came to Australia in 1980 and has been here ever since.

A new industry alliance, the CloudEthernet Forum, has been formed to address the issues raised by virtualisation and cloud services spread across geographically dispersed data centres.

5G breakthrough? 5G baloney more like

Here we go again. News of another wireless 'breakthrough' has become mainstream news and sent press and commentators into a flurry of speculation as to whether or not it spells doom for the NBN.

Optus has launched TD-LTE mobile services in Canberra for data only: it will offer a TD-LTE dongle and TD-LTE pocket WiFi hotspot, both will operate on HSPA+ or 3G networks outside TD-LTE coverage areas.
