Gotalk launches prepaid iBurst wireless broadband

Gotalk communications has launched what it claims is Australia's first prepaid wireless broadband service, on Personal Broadband Australia's iBurst network.

Usage is charged at 11.5 cents per megabyte but even it the service is not used, there is charge levied of 39 cents per day. The service also comes with a dialup Internet account broadband VoIP account and a VoIP soft phone at no additional charge. Prepaid credits can also be used with gotalk's standard international calling services.

Gotalk CEO, Steve Picton, said: "iBurst and gotalk...are convinced that the economics of prepaid will accelerate the penetration of broadband around Australia. All you need is an iBurst modem and off you go."

He told iTWire that there were somewhere between 40,00 and 50,000 iBurst modems in Australia not currently being used, and said he hoped that the offer would bring a number of these back into usage.
