Google starts selling $10 domain names

Your IT - Home IT

Google users can now buy domain names through the search engine giant, to use with its growing suite of online applications.

For $US10 a year, Google sells web addresses ending in .com, .org, .net, .biz, and .info. The domain names are for use with Google Apps for Your Domain, a free hosting service targeted at small businesses. It offers websites, email, instant messaging and shared calendars - all personalised with the business' name and logo. Users will retain full control of their domain settings, allowing them to use the domain with non-Google services.

Google has partnered with GoDaddy.com and eNom for domain registration services, but the registration process has been integrated in the Google Apps for Your Domain set up process. According to Google, the process includes "private registration to protect your personal information".
