Telstra has indicated it will not offer wholesale ADSL2/2+ services but there is some consolation for resellers: it has launched a wholesale version of the new increased bandwidth retail ADSL1 service, to 8Mbps.
The new service wil be available wherever Telstra has ADSL coverage. Telstra says it has 2400 ADSL enabled exchanges and can service 91 percent of the population. the new service goes by the name 'Open-1' and is layer-2 'Internet Grade' service at 8Mbps/384kbps.
Telstra Wholesale says it has also repriced its services for asymmetric speeds above entry level, "providing great value for money and allowing [wholesale] customers to encourage their end-users to move up the chain to higher-speed plans. The pricing applies once a customer has signed the new 'High Speed contract, which Telstra Wholesale says, will be available shortly.
“Our account managers will be meeting with their customers over coming days to promote the value and benefits of our wholesale offer," group managing director of Telstra Wholesale, Kate McKenzie, said. She added: "We have worked hard to improve our online management and billing systems, making it simpler and easier to choose Telstra Wholesale.”
