Vodafone is offering a choice of three data bundles, none of which require a contract. They are $29.95 per month with 100MB, $49.95 with 300MB and $99.95 with 1GB. Additional data is 30 cents per 1MB on all plans.
Vodafone says it will release further details of its HSDPA network footprints in Sydney and Melbourne at launch and will announce roll-out plans for other Australian cities during 2007.
The planned launch will make Vodafone Australia the eighth Vodafone operator to launch HSDPA and follows a
three-week testing program with 40 Vodafone customers on Sydney’s Lower North Shore.
Optus, which shares the same 3G network with Vodafone, has given little indication of its HSPDA plans. When queried by ITWire last month a spokeswoman said only that: "we have trialled HSDPA successfully in our laboratories and will be trialling it more widely in the coming months."
At its annual results presentation I August, Hutchison Australia said it expected to have HSDPA available in many parts of the network by the end of the year, and across the entire network by the end of the first quarter of 2007.
