Remember the time before Kogan started in business? If you do, it was but six years ago that Ruslan Kogan created his e-tail business “from his parent’s garage”, in that time turning Kogan into a global electronics brand – and good-natured serial JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman hassler.

If you’re clocking up $1m or more in sales a day, or have reached the point where you’ve done your first day of $1m worth of sales, chances are you’re doing good – and doing the right thing by your customers.

While Kogan obviously has a lot of happy customers – something it would be difficult to achieve $1m in sales without - there’s no doubt some unhappy ones there too, with issues over quality or whatever it might be – but you can be Apple and still have unsatisfied customers – it’s how you help those customers past any issues that is of character building importance.

That said, Kogan’s press release today wasn’t about his customer service policies, which we’ve personally never had to experience, but about the magic $1m sales milestone, which Ruslan Kogan and his team are obviously proud about achieving.

The date for that $1m sales total was yesterday, the 31st of July 2012, with Ruslan Kogan stating in his media release that: “We've just had our first $1M day of sales, and the entire Kogan team is tremendously proud. It took us 6 years of very hard work to get here.

"We actually sold 3 times more in one day -- yesterday -- than in our entire first year of trading.”

Mr Kogan concludes his statement by poking “Terry” from JB Hi-Fi and “Gerry” from Harvey Norman in the virtual eye, stating: “I wonder when our first $10M day will be? Watch out Terry and Gerry. We're coming!"

So… now that Kogan has done $1m in one day, once, he’s going to want to do it again, and unless the world goes into an irreversible economic meltdown, something that seems unlikely, that $10m in one day target might not be coming in the next few weeks or months, but it surely is on the way!
