iTWire UPDATE - it's FREE!

If you’re a Parallels 7 user like me, you might not always click on “check for updates” to Parallels 7, so you’ll be happy to know the latest .778994 update released July 10 is the one you want for a purry Mountain Lion kitty.

It’s not just Katy Perry that gets to have the kitty purries in her life – all Mac owners know what this feeling is like, whether they’re enamoured of real life furry felines, or not.

But to make sure your kitty purrs ever more loudly, especially when using the new Mountain Lion Mac OS X 10.8 with the virtualising virtuoso that is Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac, you’ll need to make sure it’s updated to the very latest available version – known as version 7.0.15104.778994.

Now, you might already have this update – open up Parallels desktop, click on the bolded “Parallels Desktop” menu at the top left of the menu bar, to the right of the Apple logo menu, and then click on “About Parallels Desktop” for details on exactly which version and build you have.

I had the previous one released in June, 2012 – but this new .778994 build was released in July 10, well in time for Mountain Lion support.

As Parallels says, it’s needed so you can “enjoy Apple’s latest and greatest operating system and the Mac apps you love, while simultaneously running the Windows apps you need”.

In that same “Parallels Desktop” menu described above there’s also the “Check for Updates” menu entry – which is what you’ll want to click if you aren’t already up to .778994.

If you’re using an older version of Parallels, like 6 for example, you’ll need to upgrade to Parallels 7 if you want to use Parallels smoothly with Mountain Lion, with upgrade pricing available, and a free trial of Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac available here.

So… if you want to hear your kitty’s Mountain motor running perfectly with Parallels – you now know what to do!
