iTWire UPDATE - it's FREE!

While the world is caught up in Mountain Lion fever, Apple has updated another of its products today, with this one being most educational and now endowed with some “significant new features”.

Hey U – yeah, iTunes U – you’re the educationally focused side of the iTunes experience, for schools, teachers, students, learners, educators and all the other appropriate synonyms.

Well, turns out U’ve been updated by Apple, both the service and the app, with some “significant new features”, with Apple releasing some interesting “topline iTunes U stats” worth sharing.

Those are that there have been:

“- Over 14 million downloads of iTunes U app since January.

“- Over 700 new K-12 schools and districts and 125 colleges and universities have enrolled in iTunes U since January, and…

“- Over 750 new courses have been published since January.”

But what are those “significant new changes” that have been made to U in iTunes U?

Just some include:

“- The ability for teachers to create private course distribution. Educators can now invite select students to participate in a course privately.

“- Any teacher can now sign-up to offer courses via iTunes U.

“- Powerful new note taking features for audio and video let students easily search their notes and they can choose to be taken quickly to the relevant place that note references in any video or audio clip.

“- Now simple to share your favorite courses with friends using Twitter, Mail and Messages.”

Of course, there’s most to U than that – Apple has its iTunes U site brimming with all the noteworthy details here.

So, as thanks for having paid attention to this short class on what’s nU at iTunes U, you can have an early mark.

Class dismissed!
