Connecting a USB drive to an Android-based media player or other type of Android device is usually straightforward providing it is in FAT32 format.

But what do you do if the drive was formatted as HFS+ on a Mac, or as NTFS on a Windows PC?

Paragon Software Group has now developed Android drivers for both formats.

Paragon NTFS and HFS+ for Android provides read/write access to those file systems.

"Data interchange with Mac OS-formatted HFS+ storage or recording onto NTFS-formatted storage become seamless, frustration-free operations," company officials claimed.

The product is based on Paragon's Universal File System Driver technology.

"As Android devices become more prevalent in the consumer electronics market, our technology fulfills the need for performance from users of all types of file systems - and high performance is absolutely critical for applications that require high-definition video playback," said Konstantin Komarov, Paragon Software CEO.

The software is available via Google Play.

It is free of charge during the beta period. Initial user feedback is mixed.
