Is Marissa Mayer the new Yahoo Mayor? No, she’s better than that – she’s the new CEO, and she certainly has an incredible pedigree after 13 incredible years at the world’s best search engine and advertising company: Google.
Although Ms Meyer’s Google+ page still lists her as working at Google, Ms Meyer has pointed to a Yahoo press release where she states that: “I am honored and delighted to lead Yahoo!, one of the internet's premier destinations for more than 700 million users. I look forward to working with the Company's dedicated employees to bring innovative products, content, and personalized experiences to users and advertisers all around the world.”
According to Mashable, Yahoo’s board was not only fully aware of Ms Mayer’s pregnancy, but that it was “not an issue”, with Mayer noting the board’s “evolved thinking” in hiring her.
Mashable also states that Ms Mayer will have a “few short weeks” off out of the office, and will be “working throughout her time off”, although given Ms Mayer’s status as former top-Googler and now top-Yahoo, she’ll certainly have more than enough money to ensure she has all the helpers and nannies needed to safely bring up and care for her brand new baby, in addition to all the love and attention she and her partner will no doubt be showering upon their first born.

Who knows? We might even see some of the tie-ups between Yahoo and Microsoft loosen a little to include some tie-ups with Google, given the history.
We certainly wish Ms Mayer all the best for early October and in her new role as chief Yahoo, the Google that was before Google became Google, and we look forward to all the amazing new things Yahoo will do under Ms Mayer’s leadership.
