Australia's No.1 telco is having a site outage, and the company is sorry.

This one’s going to be relatively short, but for the last hour or so, Telstra.com and the site it redirects to, Testra.com.au is down.

UPDATE: Telstra's site snafu seems solved. Original story continues:

I noticed because Telstra sent out a media release concerning Telstra connecting Qantas pilots with iPads, and so I decided to have a look-see so I could write it up into some kind of fantabulously interesting story.

However… as you can see from the screenshot above, Telstra’s site is pretty much blank.

The page header says “apology”, with eight words and two pieces of punctuation, which are as follows:

“We are sorry, we are having a problem.”

Now, Optus would probably agree that Telstra is a problem it has to deal with at all times, site snafus or no. Vodafone might say the same too.

Millions of Australians who have had issues with Telstra over the years (despite CEO David Thodey’s stellar efforts in radically and fundamentally transforming Telstra’s service division into one that, these days at least, actually delivers service) might say the same.

However, all we can really say is that the article we wanted to write got radically transformed into this one.

For that, we are sorry, but it’s because Telstra is having a problem.

So, there you go. Dial up the Telstra site, and you’ll find it’s engaged. We’ve reached out to a Telstra spokesperson, but there’s no word as yet. However, we’re sure the site will be back soon.

As Apu from the Simpsons would say, “Thank you, call again!”
