PCRange takes on Audiomate wireless audio adaptors

Your IT - Home IT

A pair of wireless audio gadgets just added to the PCRange catalogue have very different uses.

The latest brand to be added to PCRange's lineup is the Audiomate family of wireless audio products.

Audiomate AM8212

Using a wired headset with Skype and other programs tends to b a nuisance. Even if the cable is long enough to reach the computer's audio jacks or USB port, it tends to snag on any obstacles and generally get in the way. And if you want to stand up to stretch during a long call, forget it.

The Audiomate AM8212 combines a USB transceiver dongle with a small receiver that can be used with a regular pair of headphones or earbuds. The receiver includes a microphone, so there's no need to fork out for a headset.

"By making headsets and earphones wireless, Audiomate frees you to move around while listening to music from your computer or stereo or talking on Skype," said PCRange CEO Raaj Menon.

"As well as working with any earphones or active speakers, Audiomate provides 360° omnidirectional transmission and reception, which provides free roaming throughout a 30m radius. As well as delivering great sound fidelity, the Audiomate AM8212 is ideal for use with Skype."

The device works with Windows and Mac OS X (Skype, Yahoo! Messenger and MSN Messenger are explicitly supported) and the receiver features play/pause, pickup/hangup, and volume controls.

There's a second device in the family, so please read on.
