Users say no to Vista move

Your IT - Home IT

A clear majority of computer users say they have no plans to move to the Windows Vista operating system when it is released to the market, according to a recent poll.

An iTWire poll posed the question:  Do you plan to move to Windows Vista when it is released?

Of the 553 respondents, 354 (64%) answered no, while 199 (36%) answered yes.

The results stack up with anecdotal evidence and recent surveys which indicate that the move across to Vista from Windows XP will be gradual, with many corporations saying they have no plans to upgrade.

In the consumer space, an inhibitor for many home users will be the significant hardware upgrades required in order to run a fully configured version of the new operating system.

The most likely scenario will be a gradual take-up of Vista as users upgrade to new hardware with the Windows operating system pre-installed.
