Adobe's Elements turn 10

Your IT - Home IT

New versions of Adobe's popular consumer photo and video editing applications have arrived. Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10 are available separately or as a bundle.

New features of Photoshop Elements 10 include guided edits to obtain particular effects such as a shallow depth of field; text flowing along the outline of a subject, custom path or shape; and new smart brush effects including Oil Pastel.

Photo organisation is also improved, with the addition of Object Search to find a specific object (eg, a landmark) within multiple photos, as well as the ability to detect duplicate or near-duplicate photos. The Organizer section of the program also allows direct upload of photos and video clips to Facebook, YouTube and other services.

AAmong the enhancements to Premiere Elements 10 are colour correction, additional themes when creating instant movies, face detection, and a 'Ken Burns' effect for still images. The Mac version now includes the SmartSound feature to automatically fit music tracks to the length of a movie.

Thanks to the new AVCHD export, movies can be saved in HD format on ordinary DVD discs.

Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10 each cost $A145.76 each, or $218 for the pair. The software is available immediately from the Adobe online store, and will soon be available at retail outlets.
