Games boss claims Intel killing PC games business

Your IT - Home IT

Integrated graphics is killing the PC games business and it's the fault of Intel, according to Mark Rein, the boss of games developer Epic Games. Reins claims that integrated graphics chips from Intel do not have the power to play modern sophisticated games.

"Integrated graphics cannot compete with the console gaming experience," he told the audience at the develop conference in Brighton. He said many PCs now ship with integrated graphics systems that cannot be upgraded, especially laptops. Rein said that PCs with integrated garphics are incapable of running games like Gears of War from his company."

As a parting suggestion, Rein suggested that Intel exits the gaming market. No doubt that Intel would have a few words to say in response. We would be interested to hear them.
