WebCentral establishes online software as a service portal

Your IT - Home IT

Australian Web hoster WebCentral has established Australia's first online sales hub for Software as a Service (SaaS) applications - the WebCentral Application Marketplace www.applicationmarketplace.com.au. The portal can be accessed by SMEs seeking 'on demand' business applications ranging from CRM to accounting and tax services.

WebCentral CEO, Andrew Spicer, says, "An important part of WebCentral's business strategy is fostering the uptake of dynamic applications through our managed hosting services. Creating an online forum where local application developers can promote their products is one way we are investing in, and committing to, local SaaS providers."

"We hope that by delivering this unique support and sales mechanism to our SaaS customers, we'll drive demand for their applications and continue to strengthen our relationship as trusted business partners. By leveraging our quality infrastructure, proven systems and rapid scalability services, these vendors can focus on developing and servicing their client base rather than managing their IT infrastructure." Mr Spicer finishes.

To date, the most popular categories of SaaS applications on the Marketplace are website management (16%), CRM (13%), accounting and tax (12%) and business process (11%) tools. The most frequently visited applications by industry have been accounting (7%), sales and marketing (6%) and IT&T (6%).
