Find out how many hungry kids could be fed for the price of your Easter egg with WeFeedback

WeFeedback brings a new dimension to donating money: it relates the cost of donors' favourite food items with the number of children that can be fed for the same amount of money, and also taps the power of social networking.

The United Nations World Food Program's WeFeedback fundraising project delivers an interactive calculator to show how many children can be fed for the cost of a favourite drink, snack or meal.

WeFeedback also takes advantage of social networking to help spread the word.

The money raised goes towards school meals programs that provide lunches, snacks or 'take home rations.'

"Individual giving is playing an increasingly important role in mobilising funds for the hungry, and WeFeedback is providing a portal into this brave new world of philanthropy," said Nancy Roman, Director of WFP's communications, public policy and private partnership division.

"WeFeedback allows people to share food and activate their social networks, transforming something as simple as a cup of coffee or a sandwich into funds that can change the lives of hungry children forever."

In just a few weeks, WeFeedback has raised enough money to feed more than 100,000 children, and has attracted support from high profile individuals including singer Christina Aguilera, actor Drew Barrymore, and footballer Kaka.

Facebook, iPhone and Windows Phone 7 apps are under development.
