ACCAN & ISOC-AU launch consumer guide to NBN

Your IT - Home IT

ACCAN and the Internet Society of Australia (ISOC-AU) have launched NBN: A Guide for Consumers, designed to offer all Australians information about the National Broadband Network.

The guide can be downloaded from the ACCAN web site in pdf or Word formats. Also available is a four page quick guide, in pdf, or audio and Auslan.

ACCAN CEO, Teresa Corbin said the new 32 page publication was designed to cut through the technical and political debate surrounding the establishment of the network.

"The NBN is going to fundamentally change the Australian social, economic and cultural landscape in a way we haven't seen since the arrival of the electricity grid. We think it vitally important that all Australians have access to jargon-free information about what the NBN will mean for them, regardless of their income, their age or their disability."

ACCAN used the publication of the guide to launch its new website www.accan.org.au, designed by Energetica to be compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 level 'AA' guidelines, developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). AA is the second of three levels of conformance: A, AA, & AAA.
