Construction needs cloud flexibility

Australia’s embattled construction sector could benefit from cloud based information systems that can be switched on and off in lockstep with individual projects – with the exception of those organisations based in remote areas like the Kimberleys.

Finding iPad 2 stock like finding life in a moon rock?

Your IT - Home IT

iPad 2 stocks are non-existent at the various stores we called earlier today, including an Apple Store, although we did learn that walk-ins at Apple Stores for iPad 2's will no longer be accepted - read on for details!

Well, if you wanted an iPad 2 from launch day/launch weekend, and you haven't got one yet, you probably have more chance of finding life on Mars than you do of finding not only an actual iPad 2, but also the specific model that you want.

We called a Big W, a Dick Smith Electronics, a JB Hi-Fi and the Chatswood Apple Store, which took 40+ minutes to get through to.

Heck, we even emailed Apple for any comment, even one of their famous 'no comments', but they must be all very busy because, as is Apple's wont and way, there is not even a no comment for me to comment on.

Well, there was a 'no comment' because they didn't respond at all. I might have some Austrian/German blood in me through my mixed ancestry but 'I do not haf vays of making zem comment', after all.

Anyway I wanted to give Apple the benefit of at least trying to ask 'em about stock levels, seeing as people are, like, you know, interested in the iPad 2. Just a little bit. Ok, a lot. Ok, a heck of a lot.

Ok, so much interest that people are willing to wait 50+ hours in a queue to get one! That's some serious interest.

Naturally, some of that interest will inevitably spill over into the week after the launch that was. Indeed, some of that interest will continue throughout the entire year, given how infectiously popular the iPad 1 was. It'll be different for the iPad 2 in that the interest will be much more intense.

Heck, it's a lot more interest that your bank is giving you, that's for sure. Maybe Apple should start a bank too.

So, what did Apple's Chatswood store tell me? They said that an ordering system for in-store purchases would go live tonight from 9pm at each Apple store's sub-site within Apple.com.au.

That means that as soon as your chosen iPad 2 model becomes available, you'll get an email notifying you of that, and you'll have 24 hours to get into that store to claim your iPad 2.

It means no more 'walk in' purchases will be available until stocks are vastly more plentiful.

So'¦ if you've got an iPad 2, I heartily congratulate you. If you missed out on an iPad 2, I commiserate with you, too.

If anyone knows of any secret iPad 2 stashes ready and waiting for the public to buy'¦ well, you're probably not going to say a word, but if you do know of such a magical place, please let us know!
