Future iPad 2 owners of the Czech Republic rejoice - you're back on the list of countries getting the iPad 2 on March 25 after all, despite reports correct at the time!
With Japan having understandably having its iPad 2 launch delayed by a month due to a trio of disasters, it was with some surprise that reports of the
Czech Republic also seeing a delay emerged.
What did it mean? Was Apple running out of stock that needed to be re-allocated to other launch countries, or even the US itself, where lines are long and fights are even reported to be breaking out between 'locals' wanting an iPad, and resellers are said to be snapping up as many as possible to resell overseas?
Given the international delay with the iPad 1, an international delay for the iPad 2 was always a possibility, even if Apple had reportedly been working to boost iPad 2 production as much as possible.
However, despite stocks of the iPad 2 selling out quickly in the US, even after being replenished, Apple is embarking on a release in 25 more countries within two weeks of the iPad 2's launch in the US.
That's a vastly faster timeframe than the iPad 1, so it looks like Apple's efforts to boost iPad 2 production are paying off.
Sure, there will be waits for new stocks to arrive, and not everyone will get the iPad 2 they want on the first day, let alone the first week or the first month. Not at this rate, anyway - the iPad 2 looks so popular that Steve Jobs' prediction that 2011 is the year of the iPad 2 seems spot on.
The news of the Czech Republic's restoration to full iPad 2 most favoured nation status, at least in terms of international launch time frames, is good news, and comes
via ITProPortal.
They noticed that
Apple's Czech Republic iPad page now notes the launch date as 25 'brezna', which is the Czech word for March. Earlier this week, the page said '25 dubny', with Dubny being the Czech word for April.
We'll probably never know for sure exactly why this little episode occurred, but for Czech Apple and iDevice fans, the wait that was is no longer.
