Brits addicted to net porn

Your IT - Home IT

A new study has found that a new age of online vouyerism has dawned upon Britain, with nearly 40% of the male population admitting to having frequented porn web sites in the past year.

The study conducted by Nielsen NetRatings for The Independent on Sunday newspaper revealed that more than 9 million men had been to online pornographic sites. Women were surprisingly no slouches either, with an astonishing 1.4 million female frequenters of X-rated sites.

It appears that the appetite of both sexes for lewd online material in Britain has increased significantly in the present decade. Just 2 million men visited porn sites in 2000, while the number of women visiting porn sites has increased by 30% in the past year.

The most disturbing aspect of the study, however, was that it found that more than 50% of all children in Britain - 7 million - have been inadvertently exposed to porn on the net in the course of normal web surfing.

It is not known as yet how Britain's appetite for online smut compares to those of other western countries.
